Hmmmm… I wonder what's going to happen? And what's that strange piece of black card that Keira is holding?
I had heard about the eclipse but I still wasn't quite sure about the details, would it become completely dark or will it stay the way it is? I guess that I'll find out soon.
The class walked into Room 1. Everyone was pushing and shoving as if it was Willy Wonka`s Chocolate Factory. We sat on the mat as Kerry Bennett introduced himself He is an optometrist –that is an eye specialist who checks on your eyes and prescribes glasses and contact lenses, He is also Kai and Keira's Dad! He talked to us about the human eye and what can happen to it if you stare at the sun without sunglasses or special glasses to look at solar eclipses. He also told us about solar eclipses, Did you know the occur 2-5 times a year but rarely in the same place? Or that partial solar eclipses occur more often than full solar eclipses ?
Finally we were partnered up and given the special glasses to view the partial solar eclipse without damaging our eyes, I partnered with Ara, At first we couldn't see anything but pitch black darkness but suddenly an orange half moon shape appeared It must be the moon covering the sun! Bit by bit the orange got smaller and smaller until 10:30 The moon was now at its maximum effect.
WOW!!! That was an amazing experience Throughout morning tea, the orange sliver got bigger and bigger until we had our full sun again. Who thought you could see all of that at 10am in the morning!

A Beautiful Sight
What are these?
What do you do with this? Are you kidding me! How do you look out of these
pitch black glasses.
Looking up to see an orange moon? Wait how is this possible? It must be
the solar eclipse. So that must be why you have to wear the special glasses!
We are so lucky that Mr Bennett showed us how to keep our eyes safe from
a solar eclipse and we got to keep the glasses for many eclipses yet to come.

I can’t believe it it’s finally happening ...
We’re going to see a eclipse we charged into Room one,
Mr Bennett walked to the front of the room .
He told us about the eye and eclipses . We learnt that it was going to be a solar eclipse that means that the moon goes over the sun. Mr Bennett hands me a pair of dark glasses.
I put them on while Mr Bennett says these glasses will help you see the eclipse without hurting your eyes .
Wow it’s amazing the sun is a mango colour .
I can’t believe it! I saw an eclipse .
I put on my glasses and started staring up at the sky . All I could see was pitch black .
Suddenly a crescent shape appeared . I thought ’’ Wow! ’’ the moon looks beautiful .
I had just realised Mr.Bennett had just told us that it was a solar eclipse .
What an amazing sight!
